Papers consist of stock certificates and other items. Stock certificates (1856-1892) are for shares in various companies including the State Bank of South Carolina, the Blue Ridge Rail-Road Company in South Carolina and other railroad companies, the Calhoun Insurance Company, the Charleston Oil Manufacturing Company, Lucas and Richardson Company, the Stono Phosphate Works, and others. Other items include receipts; a deed of gift (1852) for a slave (a boy named Sam) given by Anna C. Lesesne to her son-in-law Henry R. Frost; and two slave bills of sale (1857, 1860) for slaves sold to Henry R. Frost in Charleston (S.C.).
